Hello! This past weekend was a bit though because I worked at the polling station and I wanted to share with you my experience.

The first day I got to meet the people who would have worked with me the next day and we prepared all the electoral cards by signing them, putting the stamp of the polling station we were in a and an anti scam sticker or the bottom of them. It took about 2 and a half hours to do it, trying to work pretty fast.
The election's day was pretty though. Mostly because we had to wake up pretty early and had to be at the school at 6.40 a.m. This years the electoral cards were a bit different than the others and we had to record the sticker number on to the logbook before the elector went into the cabin to make his vote, when he/she was done had to go to the ballot boxes the president who had to read again the sticker to us and take the piece with it off and put the cards into the boxes herself, of course the elector had to watch to see the cards entering the boxes.
Il primo giorno ho conosciuto i miei compagni di lavoro per il giorno dopo e abbiamo preparato tutte le tessere elettorali firmandole, mettendo sopra il timbro del seggio elettorale dove eravamo e attaccantdo uno sticker antifrode al fondo delle tessere. In totale ci abbiamo messo circa 2 ore e mezza, cercando di lavorare il più veloce possibile.
Il giorno delle elezioni è stata dura. Per lo più perchè ci siamo dovuti svegliare molto presto perchè dovevamo essere alla scuola per le 6.40 a.m. Le tessere elettorali di quest'anno erano diverse dal solito e dovevamo registrare nel registro i numeri delle etichette antifrode prima che l'elettore andasse a votare, prima di andare alle urne, l'elettore doveva tornare dal presidente di seggio, che rileggeva i numeri e staccava quel pezzetto della tessera, e poi imbucava le tessere con l'elettore che controllava per trasparenza.

The polls closed at 11 p.m. and, even if we were SO tired, we started the counting the electoral cards with some leading candidates to assist and see the cards with us. Luckily we were faster than all the other polls and the leading candidates had nothing to contest. The next step was to put all the cards into designated bags with the verbals, and then these bags had to be brought to the collecting center, near the city hall. By the time I got home was 4 a.m., so we were awake for almost a whole day, and we were very tired but happy the day was over, that we got along really well and that we were quicker than most groups.
I seggi chiudevano alle 11 p.m. e, anche se eravamo stanchissimi, abbiamo iniziato con lo spoglio e il conteggio delle tessere, con la presenza di alcuni capilista che hanno guardato le tessere con noi. Per fortuna noi siamo stati i più veloci rispetto a quelli degli altri seggi e i capolista non hanno avuto nulla da contestare. Il passo successivo è stato mettere tutte le tessere in buste destinate mandate dal Ministero con i rispettivi verbali, e queste buste le abbiamo portate ad un punto di raccolta vicino al comune. Quando sono arrivata a casa erano già le 4 a.m., quindi siamo rimasti svegli per quasi 24 ore, e eravamo molto stanchi ma anche felici che la giornata fosse finalmente finita, e siamo andati molto d'accordo e siamo stati uno dei gruppi più veloci per tutto il giorno.

As for my personal opinion, I was glad I found people I got along with really quickly and I thought I've known for a long time, instead of a day, the whole day of work was pretty hectic and we almost never had time to drink some water, but instead of other groups we were so quick we got to have a lunch break, while other groups didn't even have time to do that. But I don't think I'll get to do it next time, because if the method they started having this year, next time will be as hard if not harder, and I won't find the same people to work with, because they all did it before and said this year was the last one. It took me a couple of days to get back on track without feeling constantly tired, but now I feel like I'm definitely back. 😉

Per quanto riguarda la mia opinione personale, sono contenta di aver trovato persone con cui sono andata subito d'accordo ed è stato come se ci conoscessimo da molto tempo, invece che da un giorno, tutta la giornata è stata frenetica e abbiamo quasi fatto fatica a fermarci anche solo per bere, ma siamo stati molto veloci e siamo riusciti anche a fare le pause pranzo, mentre altri gruppi non ci sono riusciti. Ma non credo che lo rifarò, perché se il metodo che hanno inaugurato quest'anno ci sarà sempre, la prossima volta sarà ancora più difficile, e di sicuro non ritroverò le stesse persone, perchè tutti hanno detto che questo era l'ultima volta che avrebbero fatto gli scrutatori. Mi ci sono voluti un paio di giorni per riprendermi, perchè mi sono sentita costantemente stanca, ma ora mi sento meglio e sono tornata al lavoro. 😉
