Has come the time of the year to make a round up of the books read!
Anche quest'anno è ora di fare il punto sui libri letti!
But I don't want to put all the books I've read because then this would be a too long post some I didn't like at all and others were annual readings. Here the ones I liked.
Però non voglio inserire tutti i libri letti in assoluto perchè sarebbe un post troppo lungo, alcuni non mi sono piaciuti e altri sono delle riletture annuali. Ecco quelli che mi sono piaciuti.
THE CIRCLE
From this book this year was released a movie, starring Emma Watson and Tom Hanks, which I haven't seen yet, and it's the reason I approached this story. Saying that this books makes you reflect on the world we live in today is very little, where we share almost everything of our lives on line. It didn't seem like fiction,but a portrait of the society in the XXI century. Highly suggested, also because this was one of those books you never want to put down, not even to sleep.
Di questo libro hanno fatto un film uscito quest'anno con Emma Watson e Tom Hanks, che ancora non ho visto, ed è proprio il motivo per il quale mi sono avvicinata a questa storia. Dire che questo libro faccia riflettere sul mondo in cui viviamo oggi è poco, dove condividiamo quasi tutto della nostra vita on line. Non mi è sembrato una storia di fantasia, ma quasi un ritratto della società del XXI secolo. Lo consiglio vivamente, perché è stato uno di quei libri che non volevo mettere giù neanche per dormire.

CARVE THE MARK
Do you remember Veronica Roth, DIVERGENT series mom? This year the first book of the CARVE THE MARK series have been released, and in April 2018 the second one will come out.
But if in Divergent we find Tris, an heroine ready to do everything to protect the people she loves, here is not the same thing. Here is about survival. These characters are deeper and more detailed from the ones before, and you can "see" them grow as the story goes on. I really liked it , and I hope this finished better than Divergent. Really good, for fantasy, scifi and adventure lovers.
Ve la ricordate Veronica Roth, la mamma della serie DIVERGENT? Quest'anno è uscito il primo libro della sua nuova serie CARVE THE MARK, e ad aprile 2018 uscirà il secondo volume.
Ma se in Divergent trovavamo Tris, un'eroina disposta a tutto pur di fare la cosa giusta e salvare le persone che ama, qui no. Qui si tratta di sopravvivenza. Questi personaggi sono molto più profondi e dettagliati dei precedenti, e li si "vede" crescere durante il corso della storia. Mi è piaciuto davvero molto, e spero che la serie finisca meglio di DIVERGENT. Adatto per gli amanti di fantasy, fantascienza e avventura.

L'ARTE DI ESSERE FRAGILI: COME LEOPARDI PUO' SALVARTI LA VITA (ITALIAN ONLY)
Questo libro mi ha incuriosita per un pò prima che decidessi di leggerlo. Lavoravo in libreria e molti genitori (sì, non venivano i figli a prenderlo) venivano a comprarlo perché l'insegnante l'aveva dato da leggere. Poi in molti l'hanno regalato ad amici e anche a ragazzi. Non sapevo sinceramente cosa aspettarmi da questo libro, avevo paura che sarebbe stato un saggio noioso. Ma Alessandro D'Avenia è perfetto per i ragazzi: non solo è un professore, ma è anche un professore giovane, la nuova generazione, che capisce di più i giovani d'oggi, senza essere banale. Quindi quale modo migliore per far conoscere il vero Leopardi ai ragazzi se non un romanzo epistolare a senso unico. No, non è così banale da essersi inventato una risposta ipotetica da Giacomo Leopardi. Ed è davvero un bel libro. Anch'io ho conosciuto cose di Leopardi che non sapevo. Per esempio, lo sapevate che ha tentato di scappare dalla sua casa di Recanati e, se non fosse stato per un signore indiscreto che l'ha spifferato al padre, ci sarebbe riuscito?! E' vero, magari non ha avuto una vita super divertente ed è stato molto malato per la maggior parte della sua vita, ma Giacomo Leopardi non si limita a quel signore che ha scritto L'INFINITO e A SILVIA. Leggetelo se volete rivoltare la vostra opinione di questo grande poeta italiano.

THE HANDMAID'S TALE
Book written in 1985 by Margaret Atwood, this year a tv series was released, that brought back the attentions on this novel, and similarities of stuff we had to relive this year, with feminist protests and the rise to the power of men that have no respect at all for women. In this novel people have stopped being people, they're more like objects.
Saying that reading this book gave me the chills is reductive, mostly because I read it at the beginning of the year after the presidential elections in the USA, and how people got treated in this book, and in the tv series, made me understand even more the urgency of protests and the importance of being feminist. I knew I was, but I'm even more sure than before.
Libro scritto nel 1985 da Margaret Atwood, quest'anno è uscita la serie tv, che ha riportato l'attenzione su questo romanzo, e sulle similitudine dell'anno che abbiamo vissuto, con le marce femministe e la salita al potere di uomini che per le donne non hanno alcun rispetto. In questo romanzo le donne non sono più persone, ma sono più simili a degli oggetti.
Dire che leggere questo libro mi ha messo i brividi è riduttivo, soprattutto l'ho letto a inizio anno, poco dopo le elezioni presidenziali negli USA, come venivano trattate le donne nel libro, e nella serie, mi hanno fatto capire ancora di più l'urgenza delle proteste e dell'importanza dell'essere femminista. Sapevo di esserlo, ma ora ne sono ancora più convinta.

THE TRUTH ABOUT THE HARRY QUEBERT AFFAIR
I thought a lot before reading this book, I don't really know why. Maybe I heard too many comments on this book, some positive and some negative, I couldn't make up my mind. But this book really captured my attention, and I really loved it, and it was so thrilling that made me keep reading it until late hours.
Ho pensato molto prima di decidere di leggere questo libro, non so perché. Forse perché ho sentito troppi commenti, alcuni positivi e alcuni negativi, non riuscivo a decidere. Ma devo dire che questo libro mi ha davvero catturato l'attenzione, mi è piaciuto davvero molto, ed è davvero tanto appassionante da farti continuare a leggere fino a tardi.

WILD: FROM LOST TO FOUND ON THE PACIFIC CREST TRAIL
A couple of months ago I decided to read this book, a bit because of Lorelai Gilmore (who talks about it in the last Gilmore Girls season) and a bit because I listened to a podcast interview of hers and it really inspired me. So I read it and, even if I wanted to watch the movie badly, I made myself a promise of not watching it until I finished reading the book. It makes you believe that if Cheryl could make this experience, without knowing a thing about hacking you can do it too, you can go and travel, you can anywhere you want, alone or with someone. Cheryl was moved by many things she wanted to change about her life. So she organized and went, met amazing people and found herself. Seems trivia, but it's true.
Qualche mese fa mi sono finalmente decisa a leggere questo libro, un pò per colpa di Lorelai Gilmore (che lo cita nell'ultima stagione di Una Mamma Per Amica) e un pò perché ho sentito una sua intervista ad un podcast e mi ha ispirato. Quindi l'ho letto e, nonostante volessi vedere il film, mi ero ripromessa di non vederlo fino a che non avessi finito il libro. Ti fa pensare che se Cheryl ha fatto quest'esperienza fantastica senza sapere niente di escursioni a piedi ce la puoi fare anche tu, puoi prendere e viaggiare, andare dove vuoi, da sola o in compagnia. Cheryl era mossa da molte cose che voleva cambiare della propria vita. Così si è organizzata, è partita, ha conosciuto persone fantastiche e ha ritrovato sé stessa. Sembra banale da dire, ma è vero.
