After the sofa cover, here's another teeny tiny makeover of the sofa corner.
I've been wanting to colour the wall behind the sofa, just to give it an accent from the rest of the apartment. I wanted to use a teal colour (like the one in the picture below), but, as I said previously, my parents just did the walls in their kitchen and there was some yellow left over so I thought it was not a bad idea.

Era da un bel pò che volevo colorare il muro dietro il divano, per differenziare un pochino dal resto della casa. Volevo fare un colore verde a petrolio (come quello nella foto qui sotto), ma, come ho detto in precedenza, i miei hanno dato il colore alla cucina e del giallo era avanzato e per me andava bene anche quel colore, che non è male.

These are the things I used: this insulating anti-mould fixative*, a brush, a rolling brush, this yellow colour for walls*.

The first you want to do is tape all around the area you want to paint so that you don't paint the things you want to keep white and cover the floor with some newspapers.
La prima cosa da fare è mettere del nastro carta attorno all'area che volete dipingere, così non vi sbagliate a dipingere le parti che volete tenere bianche, e coprite i pavimenti con del giornale.

(not so)FUN FACT: when I signed for the apartment it was all orange, ceilings included, so I had them all painted white by an acquired relative, who didn't cover the floors, and didn't finish the job, so I had to hire a man to finish what he started (which wasn't only painting). Anyway, when the work was done, my mom and I had to scrape all fallen drops of paint from the floors and it was such a pain in the ass, so ALWAYS COVER THE FLOOR OF THE AREA YOU'RE WORKING IN!

Comunque, quando il lavoro è stato terminato, io e mia mamma abbiamo passato giornate in ginocchio sul pavimento a grattare la pittura che era caduta ed è stata una grande rottura, quindi COPRITE SEMPRE IL PAVIMENTO DELL'AREA IN CUI STATE LAVORANDO!

Well, it's actually pretty easy: once you've taped the perimeter proceed to colour the parts near the tape, use the fixative following the packaging instructions. Once it has dried, be careful to not colour the parts you want to keep white. Of course, I did colour the parts that I wanted to keep white but I also had the white to correct the mistakes, so after I was done with the yellow I used a tiny brush to cover my mistakes.
Comunque, è tutto molto semplice: una volta che avete coperto con il nastro carta tutto il perimetro del muro da dipingere, usate il fissante seguendo le istruzioni sulla confezione. Una volta asciutto fate attenzione a fare il contorno senza colorare le parti che volete lasciare bianche. Ovviamente, io ho sporcato con il giallo ma avevo del bianco avanzato e con un pennellino ho corretto dove avevo sporcato.
Since it was such a tiny wall I could do it in three days, doing it slowly, even if in the between I went to my sister's for a couple of days. I'm quite happy with how it turned out, it gives a pop of colour, and even if this is not my definitive house (and I hope to move as soon as possible), while I'm here I like to be comfortable in my space.

Siccome il muro è piccolo, l'ho terminato in circa tre giorni, prendendomela con calma, anche tra un giorno di lavoro e l'altro sono stata un paio di giorni da mia sorella. Sono molto contenta del risultato, da un tocco di colore, e anche se non è la mia casa definitiva ( e spero di trasferirmi appena possibile), mentre sono qui voglio essere a mio agio con il mio spazio.
Fatemi sapere cosa ne pensate.
